New G.I. Joe’s Are Coming for Your Childhood—and Your Wallet

Remember when your biggest financial decision was which G.I. Joe figure to buy next? Apparently, some things never change.

Hasbro’s G.I. Joe Classified Series panel at New York Comic Con revealed its first mainline wave for 2027: Hardball, Shipwreck, Daina, H.E.A.T. Viper, and Dreadnok medic Flatline. According to Toy Habits, preorders open October 13 at 1 p.m. Eastern, with releases expected in early 2027.

Hardball keeps his baseball-inspired look and signature grenade launcher, while Shipwreck trades his familiar sailor outfit for a tactical sweater and military gear. Flatline brings the weirdness with equipment that includes a nitrous-powered bone saw. Because apparently, even the Dreadnoks need healthcare.

The nostalgia continues with plans for the 40th anniversary of G.I. Joe: The Movie in 2027. Hasbro previewed movie-inspired Zarana and Tunnel Rat releases, alongside additional character announcements including Chuckles, Ambush, Ninja Force Storm Shadow, and Billy Kessler. Those announcements are previews of what’s ahead, rather than part of October’s preorder wave.

That’s the appeal of these reveals: familiar characters, oddball designs, and just enough new detail to make you reconsider how much room you have on a shelf.

We used to scatter these guys across the living-room floor. Now we carefully pose them and tell ourselves it’s a collection.

Knowing is half the battle. Finding shelf space is the other half.
