Hayden Panettiere cause of death revealed
Hayden Panettiere died from the toxic effects of fentanyl, 4-ANPP, alprazolam, methocarbamol and quetiapine, according to the Greenville County Coroner’s Office. The manner of death was ruled an accident.
Saudi Arabia restarts its alternate oil route
Saudi Arabia restarted the East-West Pipeline at reduced capacity and could resume crude exports from Yanbu on the Red Sea. Drone attacks forced the pipeline and Yanbu loading operations to shut down September 13.
Why it matters: The pipeline lets Saudi oil bypass the Strait of Hormuz. Restoring it provides the global market with an important alternative route, although reduced capacity and the threat of another attack remain concerns.
G7 tells Iran to stop arming the Houthis
Foreign ministers from the United States, Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy and Japan issued a joint statement accusing Iran of enabling Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia and commercial shipping. They demanded that the Houthis stop military operations and return to negotiations over Yemen.
Why it matters: The statement attempts to frame the Saudi and shipping attacks as part of the larger conflict with Iran—not an isolated campaign conducted solely by the Houthis. That increases pressure on Tehran as world leaders gather at the U.N.
CNN, MS NOW and Politico Filing a Lawsuit Against the White House
CNN, MS NOW and Politico said Monday they’ve notified President Donald Trump’s administration that they’re filing a lawsuit over being denied White House access.
The three outlets made the announcement in a joint statement posted on X, two days after their reporters were blocked from the White House and prevented from doing their jobs.

Another tanker is struck entering the Strait of Hormuz
An unknown projectile struck a commercial tanker Monday as it entered the Strait of Hormuz, causing minor injuries to two crew members. The ship remained operational and no environmental damage was reported, but maritime traffic through the strait—previously responsible for about one-fifth of global oil shipments—has already fallen sharply during the Iran conflict.
Each attack makes insurers, shipowners and crews reconsider whether the voyage is worth the risk. Energy prices can remain elevated even without a catastrophic loss if fewer vessels are willing to use the route.
The U.S. proposes an AI emergency hotline with China
During talks in New York, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent proposed a notification system through which the United States and China could alert each other about serious AI incidents posing national-security risks. Negotiators also discussed tariffs and created a “Board of Trade” to continue economic discussions before the Trump–Xi summit.
This is closer to a nuclear-era hotline than a routine technology agreement. The two leading AI powers are acknowledging that an accident, loss of control or dangerous misunderstanding might require immediate communication.
An explosion inside the Korean DMZ injures three officers
Three South Korean military officers were injured during an operation inside the western section of the Demilitarized Zone. The cause remains under investigation, although the area contains extensive minefields and officials are considering whether a North Korean mine was responsible.
The incident followed North Korea’s two ballistic-missile launches Sunday and underscores how easily tensions can grow along one of the world’s most heavily armed borders.
